Speed is reputed
to be the new sensation of the 20th Century. The Futurists and
Marinetti in particular made a lot of it. But in reality they
were obsessed with the mechanical, the sensation of being moved.
The internal sensation I'm exploring existed since we could first
crawl.
How we feel when running, cycling, or jumping is unique to that
movement. As is the exhaustion, sweating, ache and (for me) frustration.
But dancing, even just walking have their own rythms, and the
movements of our internal masses and organs depend on our speed,
bearing, self image, world view, even philosophy of life, all
of which are all utterly individual but must be identifiable,
definable, and therefore, recognisable.
